Where Is The Iron Throne BG3 Location Guide And Walkthrough
8 August 2026 | 59
Baldur's Gate 3 offers players a massive fantasy world filled with dense subterranean locations, complex political intrigue, and high-stakes rescue missions. Among the most thrilling areas to discover in the late-game campaign is the Iron Throne, a highly secure underwater prison constructed by Lord Enver Gortash to hold his most valuable political hostages. Finding this hidden facility is essential for players who wish to save Duke Ravengard, aid the Gondian families, and dismantle the absolute rule gripping the Lower City.
Finding the Secret Entrance to Flymm Cargo
The journey to the underwater facility begins along the southwestern docks of the Lower City, where players must locate a heavily guarded building known as Flymm Cargo. The facility is locked from the outside and watched by aggressive guards, requiring a stealthy approach or a direct confrontation to bypass the front doors. Once inside the warehouse, players should look for a hidden hatch hidden beneath scattered crates near the center of the main floor.
Descending through this hatch leads your party directly into an underground dockyard hidden away from public eyes. In this subterranean chamber, you will discover an active engineering bay where an engineer named Redhammer operates a specialized mechanical submersible. Interacting with Redhammer allows you to initiate dialogue regarding his secret route to the deep sea prison.
Navigating the Submersible Voyage
To reach the deep underwater structure, players must convince Redhammer to pilot the submersible down into the oceanic abyss. During this sequence, Lord Gortash will discover your intrusion and issue a stern warning directly to your party. Proceeding forward despite the warning will immediately trigger a strict turn-based escape sequence once you successfully arrive at the dock.
The prison is built out of heavy metallic materials and features a central hub connected to four distinct wings. Planning your party's positioning before leaving the sub ensures that you can cover ground quickly before the facility self-destructs. If you want to check your general progression status throughout Act 3, you can view your active adventure log by opening the main menu at any point during exploration.
Rescuing Hostages from the Underwater Cells
Upon arriving inside the facility, you are granted a very limited number of turns to open the cell doors and escort the prisoners back to the safety of the submarine. All prisoners can be saved by pulling a lever located next to their respective jail cells. It is highly recommended to split your party members into different directions to cover the northern, southern, eastern, and western hallways simultaneously.
The southern wing houses Duke Ravengard, while other pathways contain important Gondian engineers and the unique character Omeluum. Utilizing mobility spells like Misty Step, Dimension Door, and Haste potions can greatly increase your chances of reaching the cells in time. Once a cell door is opened, the freed hostages will automatically use their turn to sprint toward the central ladder leading to the exit.
Surviving the Sahuagin Ambush
As the extraction process begins, highly aggressive aquatic monsters known as Sahuagin will continually spawn from the flooded portions of the facility to block your path. These enemies use pinning strikes and net attacks to immobilize your party members and the escaping hostages. Deploying defensive spells like Wall of Stone or using summonable familiars can help draw enemy attention away from the fleeing civilians.
Ensure that all party members return to the submersible before the final countdown reaches zero, as anyone left behind will perish when the structure collapses completely. Successfully returning to the surface allows you to advance critical companion storylines and secure powerful allies for the final battle ahead.
